೧೯೯೦ರ ಆಗಸ್ಟ್ ತಿಂಗಳಿನಲ್ಲಿ  ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಮೂರನೇ ಅಖಿಲ ಭಾರತ ಜನ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನ ಅಧಿವೇಶನ ನಡೆದಿತ್ತು. ದೇಶದಾದ್ಯಂತ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನವನ್ನು ಜನಪ್ರಿಯಗೊಳಿಸುವ ಹಾಗೂ ಜನಪರ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನ ಮತ್ತು ತಂತ್ರಜ್ಞಾನ ನೀತಿಗಳಿಗಾಗಿ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡುವ ನಲವತ್ತು ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಗಳ ಜಾಲದ ಭಾಗವಾಗಿ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಅಧಿವೇಶನ ಅದು. ಅಧಿವೇಶನದ ಎರಡನೆಯ ದಿನ ಮಧ್ಯಪ್ರದೇಶ ಸರ್ಕಾರ ಕೈಗೆತ್ತಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದ ಸರ್ದಾರ್ ಸರೋವರ್ ಬೃಹತ್ ಯೋಜನೆಯ ಸಾಧಕ ಬಾಧಕಗಳನ್ನು ಕುರಿತ ಉಪನ್ಯಾಸವಿತ್ತು.

ಉಪನ್ಯಾಸಕರು ಇಡೀ ಯೋಜನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಎಷ್ಟು ಗ್ರಾಮಗಳು ಮುಳುಗಡೆಯಾಗುತ್ತವೆ, ಜನ-ಜೀವನ ಹೇಗೆ ಅಸ್ತವ್ಯಸ್ತವಾಗುತ್ತದೆ, ಜೀವ ವೈವಿಧ್ಯತೆ ಹೇಗೆ ನಾಶವಾಗುತ್ತದೆ, ಸರ್ಕಾರ ರೂಪಿಸಿರುವ ಪುನರ್ವಸತಿ ಯೋಜನೆ ಹೇಗೆ ಅಪೂರ್ಣ, ಯೋಜನೆಯ ಲಾಭ ನಷ್ಟಗಳು... ಹೀಗೆ ಎಲ್ಲವನ್ನು ಎಳೆ ಎಳೆಯಾಗಿ ಬಿಡಿಸಿಡುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಪರ-ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ಬಿಸಿ ಬಿಸಿ ಚರ್ಚೆಗಳಾಗುತ್ತವೆ. ಉಪನ್ಯಾಸ ನೀಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದವರು ಯಾವುದೇ ಉದ್ವೇಗಕ್ಕೆ ಒಳಗಾಗದೇ ಶಾಂತಚಿತ್ತರಾಗಿ ಎಲ್ಲ ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಸಮಂಜಸವಾದ ಉತ್ತರ ನೀಡುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಅಂದು ಇದನ್ನು ಅಚ್ಚುಕಟ್ಟಾಗಿ ನೆರವೇರಿಸಿದವರೇ ಡಾ.ವಿನೋದ್ ರೈನಾ.

ರೈನಾ ಅವರು ಹುಟ್ಟಿದ್ದು ಕಾಶ್ಮೀರದಲ್ಲಿ, ೧೯೫೦ರಲ್ಲಿ. ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಉಂಟಾದ ಧಾರ್ಮಿಕ ಪ್ರಕ್ಷುಬ್ಧ ಪರಿಸ್ಥಿತಿಯ ಕಾರಣದಿಂದ ಅವರ ಕುಟುಂಬ ಅದನ್ನು ತೊರೆದು ಚಂಡೀಗಡಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದು ನೆಲೆಯೂರುತ್ತದೆ.  ರೈನಾ ಭೌತಶಾಸ್ತ್ರವನ್ನು ಅಧ್ಯಯನ ಮಾಡಿ, ದೆಹಲಿ ವಿಶ್ವವಿದ್ಯಾಲಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಭೌತಶಾಸ್ತ್ರಜ್ಞನಾಗಿ ತಮ್ಮ ವೃತ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ಪ್ರಾರಂಭಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಆಗ ವಿಶ್ವವಿದ್ಯಾಲಯ ಸ್ಥಳೀಯ ಕಿಶೋರ್ ಭಾರತಿ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯ ಸಹಯೋಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಧ್ಯಪ್ರದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ‘ಹೊಷಂಗಾಬಾದ್ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನ ಬೋಧನಾ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮ’ ವನ್ನು ಪ್ರಾರಂಭಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ವಿನೋದ್ ಈ ಯೋಜನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ತೊಡಗಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಈ ಅನುಭವ ಮುಂದೆ ಅವರು ದೇಶದಾದ್ಯಂತ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣದ ಸಾರ್ವತ್ರೀಕರಣಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ದುಡಿಯಲು ಪ್ರೇರೇಪಣೆ ನೀಡುತ್ತದೆ.

೧೯೮೦ರ ಪೂರ್ವದಲ್ಲಿ ಕಿಶೋರ್ ಭಾರತಿ ತಂಡ ‘ಏಕಲವ್ಯ’ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯನ್ನು ಸ್ಥಾಪಿಸಲು ಮುಂದಾದಾಗ ಅದರ ಸಂಘಟನಾ ಸ್ವರೂಪ, ಶೈಕ್ಷಣಿಕ ಸ್ವರೂಪ ಹಾಗೂ ಸಂಪನ್ಮೂಲಗಳ ವಿನ್ಯಾಸವನ್ನು ತಯಾರಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಇದರಿಂದಾಗಿ ‘ಏಕಲವ್ಯ’ ಒಂದು ಗಟ್ಟಿಯಾದ ಸಂಘಟನೆಯಾಗಿ ಬೆಳೆದು ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ಪ್ರಥಮ ಬಾರಿಗೆ ಪರ್ಯಾಯ ಪಠ್ಯಪುಸ್ತಕ, ನೂತನವಾದ ಶಿಕ್ಷಕರ ತರಬೇತಿ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮ ರೂಪಿಸಲು ಸಾಧ್ಯವಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಇದು ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ಮಾದರಿಯಾದ ಕೆಲಸವಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ‘ಏಕಲವ್ಯ’ಕ್ಕೆ ತಮ್ಮ ಅಗತ್ಯವನ್ನು ಮನಗಂಡ ರೈನಾ ದೆಹಲಿ ವಿಶ್ವವಿದ್ಯಾಲಯದ ಉದ್ಯೋಗವನ್ನು ತ್ಯಜಿಸಿ ಪೂರ್ಣಕಾಲ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ ತೊಡಗಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಾರೆ.

ಮುಂದೆ ಶಾಲಾ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಮೇರು ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿಯಾಗಿ ಹೊರ ಹೊಮ್ಮುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಕೇಂದ್ರೀಯ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ ಸಲಹಾ ಸಮಿತಿಯ ಸದಸ್ಯರಾಗಿ, ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ ಹಕ್ಕು ಮಸೂದೆಯ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ಸಲಹಾ ಸಮಿತಿ ಸದಸ್ಯರಾಗಿ ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಶಕ್ತಿ ತುಂಬುತ್ತಾರೆ. ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರಮಟ್ಟದಲ್ಲಿ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣಕ್ಕೆ ಸಂಬಂಧಿಸಿದ ಅನೇಕ ಸಮಿತಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರು ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ ಹಕ್ಕು ಕಾಯ್ದೆ ರೂಪುಗೊಳ್ಳುವುದರಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರ ಪರಿಶ್ರಮ ಅಪಾರವಾದುದು.

‘ಏಕಲವ್ಯ’ದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದಾಗ ಅವರು ಎರಡು ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಮೊದಲನೆಯದು ಕೇರಳ ಶಾಸ್ತ್ರ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ ಪರಿಷತ್ತು ಪ್ರಾರಂಭಿಸಿದ ಜನ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನ ಚಳವಳಿಯೊಂದಿಗೆ ಏಕಲವ್ಯ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯ ಚಟುವಟಿಕೆಗಳನ್ನು ಜೋಡಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಎರಡನೆಯದು ದೆಹಲಿ ವಿಶ್ವವಿದ್ಯಾಲಯ ಹಾಗೂ ಜವಾಹರಲಾಲ್ ನೆಹರು ವಿಶ್ವವಿದ್ಯಾಲಯದ ವಿದ್ವಾಂಸರನ್ನು ಸಂಪರ್ಕಿಸಿ ಹೊಷಂಗಾಬಾದ್ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನ ಬೋಧನಾ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವನ್ನು ಭಾಷೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಸಮಾಜ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನ ಬೋಧನೆಗೂ ವಿಸ್ತರಿಸುವಂತೆ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಎಲ್ಲ ಸರ್ಕಾರಿ ಶಾಲೆಗಳು ಕೇಂದ್ರೀಯ ವಿದ್ಯಾಲಯದ ಹಂತಕ್ಕೆ ಬೆಳೆಯಬೇಕು, ಯಾವುದೇ ಮಗು ಶಿಕ್ಷಣದಿಂದ ವಂಚಿತವಾಗಬಾರದು ಎಂಬುದು  ಅವರ ಕನಸು. ಇದರ ಸಾಕಾರಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಅನೇಕ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಗಳನ್ನು ಕಟ್ಟಿ ಬೆಳೆಸಿದರು.

೧೯೮೪ರಲ್ಲಿ ಭೋಪಾಲ್‌ ದುರಂತದಲ್ಲಿ ನೊಂದವರ ನೆರವಿಗೆ ನಿಂತು ಸಂತ್ರಸ್ತರ ಹೋರಾಟ ಸಮಿತಿಯ ಸದಸ್ಯರಾಗಿ ಯೂನಿ­ಯನ್ ಕಾರ್ಬೈಡ್ ವಿರುದ್ಧ ಹೋರಾಟ ನಡೆಸುತ್ತಾರೆ  ರೈನಾ.

ಮಧ್ಯಪ್ರದೇಶ ಸರ್ಕಾರದ ಸರ್ದಾರ್ ಸರೋವರ್ ಯೋಜನೆಯ ವಿರುದ್ಧ ಆರಂಭವಾದ ನರ್ಮದಾ ಬಚಾವೋ ಆಂದೋಲನದಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ತೊಡಗಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಈ ಹೋರಾಟದ ಪ್ರಾರಂಭದ ದಿನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಸಭೆಗಳನ್ನು ನಡೆಸಲು, ಅಧ್ಯಯನ ನಡೆಸಲು ಏಕಲವ್ಯ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯ ಕಚೇರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಆಶ್ರಯ ನೀಡಿದ್ದಲ್ಲದೇ ಅಗತ್ಯವಾದ ಮಾರ್ಗದರ್ಶನ, ಬೆಂಬಲ ನೀಡಿದ್ದರು ಎಂದು ನರ್ಮದಾ ಬಚಾವೋ ಆಂದೋಲನದ ಮೇಧಾ ಪಾಟ್ಕರ್ ಅವರು ನೆನಪಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಾರೆ. ೧೯೯೦ರಲ್ಲಿ ಮಧ್ಯಪ್ರದೇಶ ಸರ್ಕಾರ ದಲಿತರ ಪರವಾದ ಕಾಯ್ದೆಗಳನ್ನು ರೂಪಿಸಲು ರೈನಾ ನೆರವಾಗಿದ್ದರು.

ಜನ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನ ಚಳವಳಿಯನ್ನು ದೇಶದಾದ್ಯಂತ ವಿಸ್ತರಿಸುವ ಉದ್ದೇಶದಿಂದ ಸಂಘಟಿಸಿದ ಭಾರತ ಜನ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನ ಜಾಥಾ-೧೯೮೭ರಲ್ಲಿ ಭೋಪಾಲ್ ನಲ್ಲಿ ಸಮಾರೋಪಗೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತದೆ. ಅಲ್ಲಿ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನ ಚಳವಳಿಗಾಗಿ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಎಲ್ಲ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಗಳ ಕಾರ್ಯಕರ್ತರು ಸೇರುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಮುಂದೆ ಈ ಸಂಘಟನೆಗಳು ಒಂದು ವೇದಿಕೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಒಟ್ಟಾಗುವುದು ಅಗತ್ಯ ಎಂಬುದನ್ನು ಮನಗಂಡು ೧೯೮೮ರಲ್ಲಿ ಅಖಿಲ ಭಾರತ ಜನ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನ ಸಂಘಟನೆಗಳ ಜಾಲವನ್ನು ಅಸ್ತಿತ್ವಕ್ಕೆ ತರಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ವಿನೋದ್ ಇದರ ಕಾರ್ಯಕಾರಿ ಸಮಿತಿಯಲ್ಲಿದ್ದು, ಅದನ್ನು ಗಟ್ಟಿಗೊಳಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ ಮತ್ತು ತಮ್ಮ ಜೀವನದ ಕೊನೆಯ ತನಕ ಅದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ದುಡಿಯುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಸಾಕ್ಷರತಾ ಆಂದೋಲನಗಳಿಗೆ ಅಗತ್ಯವಾದ ಜನಬೆಂಬಲವನ್ನು ಒದಗಿಸಲು ೧೯೮೯ರಲ್ಲಿ ಜ್ಞಾನ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನ ಸಮಿತಿಯನ್ನು ಪ್ರಾರಂಭಿಸಿ  ಪ್ರಧಾನ ಕಾರ್ಯದರ್ಶಿಯಾಗಿ ದುಡಿಯುತ್ತಾರೆ.

ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಸಾಕ್ಷರತಾ ಆಂದೋಲನದ ವಿನ್ಯಾಸದಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರದ್ದು ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಪಾತ್ರ. ಶಿಕ್ಷಣದ ಕೇಸರೀಕರಣದ ವಿರುದ್ಧವೂ ವಿನೋದ್ ಅವರದ್ದು ರಾಜಿಯಿಲ್ಲದ ಹೋರಾಟ. ಸರ್ ದೊರಾಬ್ಜಿ ಟಾಟಾ ಟ್ರಸ್ಟ್ ಅವರ ನೆರವಿನಿಂದ ಉ. ಭಾರತದ ಹಿಂದುಳಿದ ರಾಜ್ಯಗಳ ಗ್ರಾಮಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಜೀವನ್ ಶಾಲಾ ಯೋಜನೆಯಡಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸಮುದಾಯ ಶಾಲೆಗಳನ್ನು ಪ್ರಾರಂಭಿಸಲು ಶ್ರಮಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಅಗತ್ಯವಾದ ಆಡಳಿತಾತ್ಮಕ ಹಾಗೂ ಶೈಕ್ಷಣಿಕ ತಯಾರಿಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾಡುತ್ತಾರೆ.

೨೦೦೦ದ ವೇಳೆಗೆ ಎಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ ಆರೋಗ್ಯ ಒದಗಿಸಬೇಕೆಂಬ  ನಿರ್ಣಯವನ್ನು ಅನೇಕ ದೇಶಗಳು ಜಾರಿ ಮಾಡದಿರುವ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಪರಾಮರ್ಶಿಸಲು ಢಾಕಾದಲ್ಲಿ ವಿಶ್ವ ಜನಾರೋಗ್ಯ ಅಧಿವೇಶನ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತದೆ. ಅದರ ಸಂಘಟನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ರೈನಾ ಅವರು ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಪಾತ್ರ ವಹಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಪೂರ್ವಭಾವಿಯಾಗಿ ನಮ್ಮ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ರಾಜ್ಯ, ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರಮಟ್ಟದ ಸಮಾವೇಶಗಳಾಗುತ್ತವೆ. ಆ ಪ್ರಕ್ರಿಯೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಜನ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನ ಸಂಘಟನೆಗಳೂ ತೊಡಗುವಂತೆ   ಮಾಡುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಅವರು ಸಂಪಾದಿಸಿದ ಪುಸ್ತಕ ‘ದಿ ಡಿಸ್‌ಪೊಸೆಸ್ಡ್’ ಅಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿ ಯೋಜನೆಗಳಿಂದಾಗಿ ಸಂತ್ರಸ್ತರಾದವರ ಕಥೆಗಳನ್ನು ಹೇಳುತ್ತದೆ.
ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ ತಜ್ಞೆ ಅನಿತಾ ರಾಂಪಾಲ್ ಅವರನ್ನು ವಿವಾಹ­ವಾಗಿದ್ದರು.

ಕಾಶ್ಮೀರದಲ್ಲಿ ಹುಟ್ಟಿ ಚಂಡೀಗಡದಲ್ಲಿ ಬೆಳೆದು ದೆಹಲಿ ವಿಶ್ವವಿದ್ಯಾಲಯಲ್ಲಿ ವೃತ್ತಿ ಪ್ರಾರಂಭಿಸಿ, ಭೋಪಾಲ್ ನಲ್ಲಿ ಏಕಲವ್ಯ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯ ಮೂಲಕ ಪ್ರಾಥಮಿಕ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣದ ಕೆಲಸವನ್ನು ಪ್ರಾರಂಭಿಸಿ, ಮತ್ತೆ ದೆಹಲಿಗೆ ಬಂದು ಅಲ್ಲಿಂದ ವಿಶ್ವದ ವಿವಿಧ ಕಡೆಗಳಿಗೆ ತಮ್ಮ ಕಾರ್ಯವನ್ನು  ವಿಸ್ತರಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ. ರೈನಾ, ವರ್ಲ್ಡ್ ಸೋಷಿಯಲ್ ಫೋರಂನ ಅಂತರರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ಕೌನ್ಸಿಲ್ ಸದಸ್ಯರು. ಬೀಜಿಂಗ್ ನ ರೆನ್‌ಮಿನ್ ವಿಶ್ವವಿದ್ಯಾಲಯ ಮತ್ತು ಜಪಾನಿನ ನಿಹೋನ್ ಫುಕುಶಿ ವಿಶ್ವವಿದ್ಯಾಲಯಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಸಂದರ್ಶಕ ಪ್ರಾಧ್ಯಾಪಕ­ರಾಗಿದ್ದರು. ಸ್ವತಃ ಹಾಡುಗಾರರಾಗಿದ್ದ ರೈನಾ  ಸಂಗೀತ ಪ್ರಿಯರಾಗಿದ್ದರು.

ಹೋಮಿ ಭಾಭಾ ಫೆಲೊ, ನವದೆಹಲಿಯ ನೆಹರು ಸ್ಮಾರಕ ವಸ್ತು ಸಂಗ್ರಹಾಲಯ ಮತ್ತು ಗ್ರಂಥಾಲಯದ ಫೆಲೋ, ಜಪಾನ್ ನ ಏಶಿಯಾ ಲೀಡರ್ ಶಿಪ್ ಫೆಲೋ, ಭಾರತೀಯ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನ ಬರಹಗಾರರ ಸಂಘದ ಗೌರವ ಫೆಲೋ ಆಗಿದ್ದರು. ರೈಟ್ ಲೈವ್ಲಿಹುಡ್ ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿ ಪುರಸ್ಕೃತರು.

ಕಳೆದ ಮೂರು ವರ್ಷಗಳಿಂದ  ಪ್ರಾಸ್ಟೇಟ್ ಕ್ಯಾನ್ಸರ್ ನಿಂದ ಬಳಲುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ಆಗಲೂ  ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಕ್ರಿಯಾಶೀಲರಾಗಿದ್ದರು. ಕಳೆದ ಒಂದು ತಿಂಗಳಿಂದ  ದೆಹಲಿಯ ಕ್ಯಾನ್ಸರ್ ಆಸ್ಪತ್ರೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆ ಪಡೆಯುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ಕೀಮೋ ಥೆರೆಪಿ ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆ ಪಡೆಯುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ರಕ್ತದಲ್ಲಿನ ಪ್ಲೇಟ್ಲೆಟ್ ಗಳ ಸಂಖ್ಯೆ ಕುಸಿದಿತ್ತು. ಈ ಅವಧಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಜನವಿಜ್ಞಾನ ಚಳವಳಿಯ ಕಾರ್ಯಕರ್ತರು ಅವರಿಗೆ ರಕ್ತದಾನ ಮಾಡುವುದರ ಜೊತೆಗೆ ಅವರ ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣ ಆರೈಕೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ತೊಡಗಿದ್ದರು. ಕಳೆದ ಒಂದು ವಾರದಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರ ಸ್ಥಿತಿ ಮತ್ತಷ್ಟು ಕ್ಷೀಣಿಸಿ ಬಹು ಅಂಗಗಳ ವೈಫಲ್ಯಕ್ಕೊಳಗಾದರು. ಈ ತಿಂಗಳ ೧೨ರಂದು  ಕೊನೆಯುಸಿರೆಳೆದರು.

Sad demise of Vinod Raina

Vinod Raina an eminent educationist, passed away on September 12 2013. 

Vinod Raina was recently engaged in advocacy work for Right in Education legislation and was member of its drafting committee. He is a member of the Central Advisory Board of Education (CABE). Vinod Raina did his doctoral in Physics from Delhi University and taught there for over a decade before leaving to serve school education directly. He worked voluntarily in rural schools of central India thereafter for quality improvement of school education, after founding the organization Eklavya. Engrossed completely in the task, he worked passionately and prepared the curriculum, trained teachers and worked out innovative methods of examinations. Later, through the organization, Bharat Gyan Vigyan Samiti, (BGVS), he worked and developed the campaign mode of adult literacy and extended it all over India from 1989 in collaboration with the National Literacy Mission, Government of India.

Vinod Raina was a visiting Professor at the Lingnan University, Hong Kong. He worked as a Chief Editor for the book. The Dispossessed: Victims of Development in Asia, ARENA Press, HK. He Is a member of the International Council, World Social Forum. He received various facilitations. Some of them include-

ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ಜ್ಞಾನ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನ ಸಮಿತಿಯ ಸರ್ವ ಸದಸ್ಯರ ಸಭೆಯನ್ನು ಆಗಸ್ಟ್ 3-4ರಂದು ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು ಗ್ರಾಮಾಂತರ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆ, ನೆಲಮಂಗಲ ತಾ, ಶಿವಗಂಗೆಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಹೊನ್ನಮ್ಮ ಗವಿಮಠದಲ್ಲಿ ಕರೆದಿದೆ. ತಾವು ತಮ್ಮ ಘಟಕದ ಸದಸ್ಯರಿಗೆ ಈ ವಿಷಯ ತಿಳಿಸಿ ಅವರನ್ನು ಸಭೆಗೆ ಕರೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಬರಲು ವಿನಂತಿ.

ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದ ಆಹ್ವಾನಪತ್ರಿಕೆ, ವೇಳಾಪಟ್ಟಿ, ಎಲ್ಲವನ್ನು ಕಳಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದೇವೆ. ಸದಸ್ಯರಿಗಾಗಿ ತಯಾರಿಸಿರುವ ಪತ್ರವನ್ನು ಜೆರಾಕ್ಸ್ ಮಾಡಿಸಿ ಭಾಗವಹಿಸುವ ಎಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ ಕೊಡಿ. ನಿಮ್ಮ ಘಟಕದಿಂದ ಎಷ್ಟು ಜನ ಬರುತ್ತಿರ ಎಂಬುದನ್ನು ತಿಳಿಸಿರಿ.

World Environment Day at Harihar

World Health Day at Pandavapura

The KJVS unit of Pandavapura has organised world health day program on 6th April 2013 at Chinakurali.  Dr Thibbegowda, Medical officer from CHC, Chinakurali inaugurated the program by checking the BP of Shri.Prakash, vice principal of the Govt.Jr.college and gave a talk on blood pressure. He has done his PHD on blood pressure in school going children in Kolar. Myself made the introductory address. Mr.Mahadevappa, president, Pandavapura KJVS, Mr.Shashidhar, Secretary, Pandavapura KJVS, Mr.Santhosh kumar GB, activist of KJVS, members from Sneha jeevi yuvakara sangha involved in organising the program. At the end of the program Dr.Mrunalini Devi, has checked the BP of all who participated in the program.. There was interraction with the Doctor on hypertension.

Similar program was organised on 7th April, in MES college of Education, Bangalore. KJVS and KRVP jointly organised this program. Dr.Prakash C Rao made the PPT presentation on hypertension. A program was organised in Harapanahalli, on 7th April, Davanagere district, by KJVS Harapanahalli.
